Atmospheric River Storms

As you are more than likely aware, the Town was hit hard by wind and rain from an atmospheric river storm on Tuesday, March 14 and most of the Town lost power for over 48 hours.  Town Hall utilized its generator and opened its doors for residents to come and charge electronics and utilize the WiFi.  We had a steady stream of grateful residents.

Generator Powering Cell Tower at Town Hall

Due to inclement weather effects causing power outages throughout the Town this week, the monopine cell tower behind the Heritage House at Town Hall went offline. In response, Town staff worked with the Los Altos Hills County Fire District to arrange for a backup generator to be installed at the pole to restore cell service to residents.

Coffee With the Sheriff Event Series – March 21st

Please join the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and Los Altos Hills Town Staff for the Virtual Coffee with a Sheriff event - a monthly program to enhance public safety and communication in the Town.

This program was created to enable the Sheriff's Office the chance to interact more successfully with the citizens they serve each day. The goal is casual, one-on-one conversations between residents and Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. There are no speeches and no agendas.  This is an opportunity for you to meet your neighborhood members of the Sheriff's Office in a relaxed environment, build bonds, and share ideas to make our communities even better.

This monthly event will take place on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 2-3pm

Sheriff's Weekly Report

Visit the link to view the Sheriff's weekly report for March 6-12, 2023.
The Sheriff’s weekly report is always for the week prior to the City Manager’s report.

This week, the City reached out to five security companies to verify their interest in providing crime prevention patrols to help law enforcement. The selection process will conclude on Friday with City leaders choosing a company.  The selection will include many variables, but one is based on how quickly services can be established.

We ask you to be purposeful about protecting yourself, your family, and your neighbors!

For in-progress crimes and suspicious activity, call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency number (408) 299-2311.

Crime prevention tip of the week: For items which are of particular high value or irreplaceable, consider a safe deposit box.  Alternatively, one way to safeguard valuables is to hide high value items in odd locations (for example in the refrigerator or a storage container marked with something like “old clothes”). Then, put less expensive, or even costume jewelry, in the “obvious” places so thieves grab it and flee, falsely thinking they have scored big!
