Commission Overview
The commission is tasked to review, evaluate and make recommendation to the Councils of the City of Los Altos and Town of Los Altos Hills on matters affecting seniors in the two cities, including health, education, employment, housing, transportation and recreation.
The mission of this joint Los Altos/Los Altos Hills (LA/LAH) Senior Commission is to promote and enhance the quality of life and well-being of the senior communities in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
The membership of this commission consists of nine members: six residents of Los Altos and two residents from Los Altos Hills.
Responsibilities
The charges to and duties of this Commission shall be:
- Advise both City Councils on Senior needs and issues
- Make recommendations about programs and resources that pertain to Seniors
- Gather information from the Senior community
- Invite community stakeholders currently serving Seniors to collaborate and share information
- Assist in identifying funding agencies and sources, and in applying for grants
- Define opportunities for Seniors to make significant contributions to the community
- Meet monthly and conduct business as required
- Provide a quarterly written report to each Council and be available to meet with each Council at least once a year
